The technical programme features 70 technical HotLab sessions covering the ITOM, ADM, Security and IM&G portfolios. These unique hands-on deep-dive half-day workshops still remain the core of the Open Horizons Summit and offer to you the chance to meet the experts who build the products and tools you use every day and get your questions answered. Whether your tech skills are tightly focused or all over the map, whether you want to learn something new at a foundational or intermediate level, or you want to dive deep into familiar Micro Focus technologies at an advanced or expert level – you’ll find lots of new ways to improve your skills.

The Community Biz Track provides a strategic overview of Micro Focus technology and a updates across the ITOM, ADM, Security and IM&G portfolios. ITOM – IT Operations Management

The IT Operations Management (ITOM) track will focus on modern IT Operations Management tools and how they will  bridge the gap between traditional IT and the new digital enterprise and fast paced new business initiatives in a straightforward way.  In both the Community Biz track sessions as well as in the deep-dive technical hands-on sessions, you will learn more about the six ITOM suites, which are prescriptive, integrated and easy to consume through simplified pricing and licensing models. In this HCM session, we will look at how to design, deploy, and manage end-to-end orchestration with outstanding ease and efficiency. Once we understand the power and ease of the designer and orchestration engine, we will learn how to leverage the orchestration content to create a VMware instance for use. Once the service is active, we will execute a Day 2 function to modify the service by adding an additional Disk to the service, demonstrating the ability of HCM to manage day-to-day functions.
Gain hands-on experience with the latest OpsB additions in a container based environment.
Working with a live DCAX environment, students will attach and remediate the PCI compliance policy on targeted Red Hat servers and examine the compliance status on the DCAX dashboard.
This training will introduce you to our Micro Focus Demo portal – Blueshift. It will provide you with all required detials on what is Blueshift? what are the architecture and the backend platform and resource providers behind it? The training will also guide you through a day in a life of a user covering the following topics: General portal usage, Help and support, Tips and best practices, Searching and Subscrption management.
This Hot Lab will provide the required Data Protection training to pass the partner certification exam for Technical Overview (Level 300), Technical Presentation (Level 320) and Technical Demonstration (Level 340) certifications.

This Hot Lab will provide the required Service Management Automation training to pass the partner certification exam for Technical Overview (Level 300), Technical Presentation (Level 320) and Technical Demonstration (Level 340) certifications.

In this HCM session, we will cover the Brokering abilities of the solution. We will show how HCM can display pre-configured Services offered by AWS and/or Azure and add them to the HCM catalog for use by your IT Customers. Once the Service is made available to the local Catalog, we will Subscribe and Create that Service for use. We will then create Organizational Budgets to show how HCM can aid in controlling IT expenditures. Digging a little deeper, we will go through the HCM Life-Cycle actions of a Workload to understand the Power of using HCM to control IT Services.
Learn how to install the new NOM UI and Collect-once-Store-once (COSO) in a CDF environment and connect it to legacy NOM and NA components. We will build on this installation and configuration lab in Thursday’s lab and start using the comoponents to solve some real-world use cases.
We will cover the latest features of the CMS solution, including, but not limited to New UI Query designer, Reconciliation Analyzer, and Policy and Compliance reporting.
This lab will take the student through our standard Blueshift/Cirrus Exclusive Demo Environment. This lab includes the ability to backup file systems, MS SQL, MS Exchange, Oracle, and VMWare, including VMWare GRE (Granular Recovery Extension). It also shows backing to a HPE StoreOnce VSA (PBBA) and the Reporting Server functionality with the current Data Protector.
Working with a live DCAX environment, students will create a Patch Policy based on Red Hat CVE for the Spectre and Meltdown virus. They will attach and remediate targeted Red Hat servers and review the results on the DCAX dashboard.
Using the new Collect-once-Store-once – COSO (IIDL) dashboards to deliver a status overview of the collected data.
Use the new NOMX UI to detect compliance and fault issues, collect data into COSO and report on it using BVD and Power BI (a Business Intelligence application from Microsoft). For those that participated in the first lab, they will use the components as installed and configured in that first lab. For those that did not participate in the first lab, we will provide a pre-installed and configured environment.

The SMAX Virtual Agent provides automated 24×7 assistance to resolve user issues faster. The SMAX 2019.05 release leverages Natural Language Understanding (NLU) technology to empower the virtual agent. Come to this session to see the Virtual Agent in action and learn how to make the virtual agent smarter using machine learning.
This lab will take the student through the upgrade process from DP 9.08 to DP 2019.x (aka DP 10.x). This lab will use the Blueshift/Cirrus Exclusive Demo Environment.
